Young Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, has said he was amazed when Grammy-winning rapper, Drake contacted him for a collaboration.
He said when he received a message from Drake during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020, he thought it was a fake account.
Drake featured Rema on a song titled Mention.
Rema explained that he told his friends it was probably an impersonator trying to play a fast one on him, however, they dismissed his doubts and said that it was Drake’s verified account.
The Calm Down crooner said he was still in disbelief that he asked his friend to also check it on his phone, then he raised both phones up to look at the message closely.
He was speaking in an interview with Radiojam Fm in Germany as he revealed that Drake commended him.
The Jonzing/Mavin Records signee said he had been talking with the Hip Hop star’s producer and he recorded his verse which was then sent over.
According to him, the Hotline Bling crooner said ‘Thank you’ in the message after he listening to his verse. He then appreciated Rema for his contribution to Afrobeats.
