Match Report: Crystal Palace 1-2 Chelsea || Full Time

After an entertaining first-half at Selhurst Park, the teams go into the break level at 1-1. Chelsea dominated possession throughout the opening 45 minutes but Crystal Palace took the lead against the run of play through Odsonne Edouard, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised with his first goal for the club. Thiago Silva was involved in that strike, having been fortunate to stay on the pitch after stopping Jordan Ayew going clean through.

Graham Potter is in charge of Chelsea for the first time in the Premier League this afternoon. The postponement of matches after Queen Elizabeth II’s death followed by the international break means that it is almost a month since either side last played in the league.

Since then Thomas Tuchel has been sacked and Potter saw his draw to RB Salzburg in the Champions League, a performance where the Blues’ shortcomings at both ends of the pitch were evident. While most of his squad have been away on international duty, the Chelsea boss will be hoping the recent break has given his side a chance to reset. FT: Crystal Palace 1-2 Chelsea

Potter up and running as Chelsea boss!

He has Gallagher to thank for that, the midfielder coming off the bench against his former side to net a sensational late winner.

90+2 mins: Palace with barely any time to respond to that. Selhurst Park fell into a stunned silence as it hit the back of the net.

That’s certainly one way to impress the new manager. Palace with possession in added-time but struggling to do anything with it.

GOAL! Crystal Palace 1-2 Chelsea | Conor Gallagher 90′

It had to be! It’s a stunning curling effort from distance from Gallagher, Guaita with absolutely no chance.

No celebration from him – there are plenty in the away end.

88 mins: That’s been coming for the best part of an hour.

Olise past Kovacic, gets tripped and at long last the Chelsea midfielder is shown a yellow card. Met with ironic cheers from the Palace faithful.

86 mins: Cross into the box, Mateta gets up well but he can’t keep the header down. Palace are on top here, there’s no doubt about it.

Mateta and Hughes have come on in place of Doucoure and Edouard.

83 mins: Defending becoming a bit desperate from Chelsea, with Zaha having a real influence. Silva there this time to clear.

No sign of the Eagles sitting back and settling for a point, they think they can get more than that from this match. Pulisic on in place of Mount for Chelsea.

81 mins: Zaha past Chilwell with ease, plays the ball into the box and Fofana does brilliantly to turn the ball away.

Comes to Olise, who goes down and assume the referee’s whistle will follow. It does not. Hasn’t had much go his way this afternoon, Olise.

79 mins: Sterling drives a low cross into the near post, after decent work from Loftus-Cheek.

It’s straight at Guaita though, not happening for Chelsea really. Not able to do much at all with their possession.
