The abduction of 73 students from Government Day Secondary School in Kaya has been confirmed by Zamfara State Police.
Kaya is a town in the state’s Maradun Local Government Area.
According to Mohammed Shehu, the Police Public Relations Officer, a large group of bandits broke into the school at 11:22 a.m. on Wednesday.
He stated that the Commissioner, Ayuba Elkanah, has deployed a search and rescue team to collaborate with the military in order to free the students.
Elkanah urged the public, particularly the students’ parents and relatives, to “exert patience and continue to pray for the success of the current rescue mission.”
To prevent additional attacks, security has been tightened up in Kaya village and its vicinity.
